Understanding the Default Flowchart Layout and Shapes

Understand the default flowchart layout and shapes available in QuoteCloud to design effective diagrams quickly.

Understanding the default flowchart layout and shapes

  1. Learn about the core components of the Diagram block, including nodes and connecting lines.
  2. Understand how to interact with shapes and customize the diagram settings.

Components of the Flowchart Diagram

1

The Diagram Canvas

The central area of the block is your canvas. This is where you place and arrange nodes to visualize your process. By default, it may include a pre-built template to show you how a process flow looks.

2

Nodes (Shapes)

Nodes are the building blocks of your flowchart. Each shape represents a different step, such as a "Start" point, a "Process" step (rectangle), or a "Decision" (diamond).

3

Connecting Lines

Connecting lines link nodes together to define the direction of the flow. A single node can have multiple connections, allowing you to structure complex processes.

4

Establishing Connections

To connect shapes, hover your mouse over a node to see small dots on its edges. Click and drag from one of these dots to another node to create a connecting line.

5

Diagram Settings Panel

On the right-hand side, the settings panel provides controls for Style Settings (colors and lines), Diagram Settings (height, background style, and snap-to-grid), and Actions (duplicating or deleting the block).

6

Snap to Grid

The Snap to Grid feature helps you keep your diagram organized by automatically aligning nodes to an invisible grid as you move them.

You now have a foundational understanding of the flowchart layout and tools.

Use these elements to build clear and precise visual representations of your business workflows in QuoteCloud.
