Assigning product categories to a team in QuoteCloud controls which product groups team members can see and use when building quotes and proposals. This ensures users only work with products relevant to their role, reduces errors, and streamlines document creation within your sales quoting software or proposal software workflows.
Product categories can be assigned by users with account- or team-management permissions in QuoteCloud, such as account administrators or designated team managers. If you don’t see assignment options, you likely don’t have the required role permissions and should contact your QuoteCloud administrator.
When a team is limited to specific product categories, document authors on that team can only select products from those categories. That enforces approved pricing, services, and template choices, helping maintain consistent branding and workflow settings across quotes, proposals, and other documents generated by your quote software or proposal software.
No. Team members can only access the product categories explicitly assigned to their team. This restriction prevents users from adding or quoting products outside their assigned scope and helps maintain control over who can sell or propose certain products or services.
Yes. The same product category can be assigned to multiple teams if different groups need access to the same products. Assigning a category to multiple teams allows shared use while still enabling you to control access and visibility across your sales and proposal software environment.
From the QuoteCloud admin or team-management area, open the Teams or Permissions section, select the target team, and choose Product Categories from the team settings. Select the categories you want that team to access and save your changes. The exact labels and navigation may vary by account configuration, so contact your QuoteCloud administrator if you don’t see these options.
Keep assignments role-focused: match categories to team responsibilities to reduce mistakes. Limit access to approved pricing and templates to maintain brand consistency in your sales quoting software. Regularly review category assignments after product launches or pricing changes, and use shared categories sparingly for cross-team offerings to simplify management.
First verify you have account- or team-management permissions; users without those roles will not see assignment controls. If you have the correct role but still can’t assign categories, try refreshing the browser, clearing cache, or using a different browser. If the issue persists, contact your QuoteCloud administrator or support team to confirm your permissions and check for account-specific settings or restrictions.
