Test and troubleshoot your monday.com Zaps
Test every Zap with a sample item before it meets a real client, then fix the handful of problems that come up most: half-filled items, the wrong item, status labels that don't match and links that expire.
- 5/5 on G2
- 4.2 on Capterra
- Building QuoteCloud since 2013
Test each monday.com and QuoteCloud Zap with a test item, a test template and @example.com contacts, checking both apps after each step. Most problems come from four places: an item read before it was filled in, a missing item ID, a status label that doesn't match the column, or a PDF link used after it expires.

How do I test a monday.com Zap?
Five steps, every time.
- 1
Make test records
A test group or board in monday.com, a test template in QuoteCloud and contacts with @example.com addresses.
- 2
Make the event happen
Change a test item's status, or open and sign a test quote, so Zapier has fresh test data.
- 3
Test each step
Zapier tests each action against the real apps: a test of Create Document makes a real document.
- 4
Check both apps
Open the document in QuoteCloud and the item in monday.com, and check every mapped value.
- 5
Turn it on and watch
Switch the Zap on and check its first runs in Zapier's history before you rely on it.
Why isn't my monday.com Zap working?
The usual problems, and the fix for each.
The quote's data items are blank
The item was read before anyone filled it in. Start from a status change, or add Delay by Zapier and Get Column Values after New Item in Board.
No item, or the wrong one, was updated
Check the trigger's test data shows the monday item ID data item. Without it, use Find Items on a column with a unique value, such as the quote's reference.
The status didn't change
The label must match one on the Status column exactly. Add it to the column first, then test again.
The PDF link stopped working
Generate or Fetch Document PDF Link is short-lived. Upload the file with Upload File to Specific Column in the same Zap; never store the link.
A formula or mirror value is missing
Zapier gets up to 5 formula columns per request, and mirror values belong to another board. Map the source column instead.
The job was created twice
Use Document Signing Complete, which waits for every signer, not Recipient Signed Document, which fires for each one.
What a good test run leaves behind
After a test of the quotes-from-items Zap, the draft is in QuoteCloud and, with the optional last step, the test item shows Quote drafted and the quote's reference.
If anything is missing, open the Zap's run in Zapier's history: each step shows the data it received and what it sent.

Keep test data fictional
Tests talk to the real apps. A test of Create Document makes a real document in QuoteCloud, and a test of a monday.com action creates or changes a real item, so test with records made for testing.
Use a test group, an item named so it's obviously a test, and contacts at @example.com addresses. Keep tests of Create Document few, since documents created through Zapier carry the per-document fee, and archive test documents afterwards.
- QuoteCloud's Archive Document action can tidy test documents in a Zap of their own.
- What the per-document fee comes to for your volume.
Troubleshooting questions
Why did my quote come out with blank values?
Usually because the Zap read the item before it was filled in. monday.com's New Item in Board fires as soon as an item is created. Start from Specific Column Value Changed in Board instead, or add Delay by Zapier and Get Column Values before Create Document.
Why did my Zap update the wrong monday.com item?
Because it matched on a value more than one item has. Map the monday item ID data item into Update Item's Item ID, or search with Find Items on a column with a unique value, such as the quote's reference, rather than the item name.
My signed PDF link doesn't open any more. Why?
Because QuoteCloud's Generate or Fetch Document PDF Link returns a short-lived link. Use it in the next step of the same Zap, for example monday.com's Upload File to Specific Column on the item, rather than saving the link in a text column where it stops working.
Can testing create real documents or items?
Yes. Zapier tests run against your real apps, so a test of Create Document makes a document in QuoteCloud and a test of Create Item adds a real item to the board. Use a test group, test templates and @example.com contacts, and archive test documents afterwards.
