Microsoft Excel and QuoteCloud FAQ
Straight answers for estimators and finance teams: the Spreadsheet block, the Excel Zaps, where workbooks must live and what it costs.

QuoteCloud works with Excel two ways: the Spreadsheet block imports your .xlsx calculator into a quote and sets price lines from its cells, and QuoteCloud's Zapier app adds and updates rows in Excel tables in OneDrive for Business or SharePoint and drafts quotes from rows. Both are on Essentials and up. Make works too, bring your own.

How does QuoteCloud work with Excel?
How does QuoteCloud connect to Microsoft Excel?
Two ways. The Spreadsheet block imports an .xlsx calculator into the quote itself. For workbooks you keep in Excel, QuoteCloud's Zapier app, on Essentials and up, adds and updates rows in Excel tables and can create quotes from new rows. Teams that build their own can use Make instead, with QuoteCloud's API.
Is there a native or two-way Excel integration?
No. There's no native or synced Excel connection. Zaps run one way, from their trigger to their steps, so a QuoteCloud event can update a row and a new row can create a quote, but editing a row never changes a quote.
Where does my workbook need to be stored?
In Microsoft 365. Zapier's Excel app works on workbooks in OneDrive for Business, a SharePoint site or a Group Drive, and for SharePoint it lists folders in the default site only. Personal OneDrive and files on your computer aren't supported. The Spreadsheet block has no such limit: it's a copy inside the template.
Can we use Make instead of Zapier with Excel?
Yes, as a bring-your-own setup. QuoteCloud has no ready-made app on Make: you connect Make to QuoteCloud with Make's built-in OAuth connection and call QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints from your scenario, beside Make's own Microsoft Excel modules.
The Spreadsheet block
Can I import my Excel pricing calculator into a quote?
Yes. Add a Spreadsheet block to your template and import the .xlsx. Tabs, values and formulas built from functions such as IF, ROUNDUP and lookups come across. Macros, pivot tables and some complex formulas don't, so test a job you priced in Excel first.
Can a cell set a price in the quote?
Yes. Any cell in the Spreadsheet block can be connected to a price line's description and unit price, and the price table total can come back into a cell as an input. Quantities are set on the price lines as usual.
Will my client see my costs in the Spreadsheet block?
Not if you hide them. Put the block in a section or container set to Hide from Recipient: your team sees the costing, the client sees the priced lines. Leave it visible if it's meant for the client, such as a sizing table.
What can the Excel Zaps do?
Can every quote be logged to an Excel table?
Yes. QuoteCloud's Document Created trigger and Excel's Add Row to Table add a row for each new document. Further Zaps on Document Status Changed, Document Signing Complete and Document Part Paid find the row by its reference and update status, signed date and deposit.
Can a row in Excel create a QuoteCloud quote?
Yes. Excel's New Row in Table starts a Zap that runs Find or Create Contact and Create Document from your template, filling data items and a price-table row from the row's columns. Update Row can write the quote's reference back. It never ticks options or chooses content blocks.
How quickly do rows update?
Within minutes. Zapier checks for new QuoteCloud events and new Excel rows on a schedule set by your Zapier plan, so changes aren't instant. For live figures inside QuoteCloud, the Reports Dashboard and Sales Forecast are on the Business plan.
Plans and cost
Which QuoteCloud plan do I need for Excel?
Essentials or higher. The Spreadsheet block, QuoteCloud's Zapier app and API, custom data items and QuoteCloud Payments are all on Essentials and up. Business adds the Reports Dashboard, Sales Forecast and approval workflow, which none of the Excel recipes needs.
Do the Excel Zaps carry a per-document fee?
Only when they create documents. Adding and updating rows carries no QuoteCloud fee. Each document created through Zapier or the API, such as a quote drafted from an Excel row, carries US$2.00, $1.80 or $1.60 by volume. You also need a Zapier plan for your task volume.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. QuoteCloud has a free 14-day trial with no credit card required, so you can import your calculator and test your Excel Zaps on a copy of your workbook before you choose a plan.
