Getting started with QuoteCloud

MCP, AI Co-Worker, Zapier and the API compared

Your own AI assistant from outside, an AI assistant inside the editor, or a fixed automation in the background. They do different jobs, and many teams use more than one.

MCP (Essentials and up) connects the AI assistant your team already uses to QuoteCloud from outside, for requests that need reading and judgement. AI Co-Worker (Business) works inside the QuoteCloud editor on the document you have open. Zapier, Make and the API (Essentials and up) run the same automated steps every time an event happens.

A quick way to choose

  • Choose MCP when…

the request arrives somewhere else, in your own words, and someone has to read it, find the client and pick the template. Or when you want answers about documents without opening QuoteCloud.

    Drafts from emails & notes
  • Choose AI Co-Worker when…

you're already in the document and want help writing, rewriting or turning pasted notes and price lists into finished blocks.

    AI Co-Worker
  • Choose Zapier, Make or the API when…

the same thing should happen every time, with no judgement: a quote drafted when a deal changes stage, a record updated on signature.

Can you use them together?

Yes, and they suit different moments. A Zap can draft a standard quote from a CRM deal; your AI assistant, connected through MCP, can handle the odd emailed request and answer "what's still unsigned?"; and on Business, a rep can polish either draft with AI Co-Worker in the editor.

QuoteCloud's article makes the trade-off plain: if one AI application only needs one system, a dedicated API integration may be entirely adequate. MCP earns its place when several AI applications or systems need the same QuoteCloud capabilities. See when MCP makes sense.

Comparison questions, answered

What's the difference between MCP and AI Co-Worker?

Where they work. AI Co-Worker (Business plan) is built into the QuoteCloud editor and helps with the document you have open; its content stays flagged until someone accepts it. MCP (Essentials and up) connects the AI assistant your team already uses, from outside QuoteCloud, to your account.

Do I need the Business plan for MCP?

No. QuoteCloud's MCP service is on the Essentials plan and up. AI Co-Worker and approval workflow are on Business, so you need Business only if you want those as well.

Why use MCP instead of Zapier or the API?

For work that needs reading and judgement, such as an emailed request in the customer's own words. Zapier, Make and the API run the same mapped steps every time an event happens. If your job is always the same, an automation may be all you need.

Do documents created through MCP cost extra?

We don't state a per-document fee for MCP on this site. Documents created through Zapier or the API carry US$2.00, $1.80 or $1.60 each, by volume. Ask our team how documents your assistant creates are counted.
