Getting started with QuoteCloud

Get paid by clients who prefer PayPal

Some clients won't type a card into one more website. With a PayPal button on the document, they pay from the PayPal account they already trust, at home or abroad.

Put a PayPal button on the quote or proposal and clients pay from their own PayPal account after signing, using what that account allows, such as their balance, a linked card or bank, or PayPal Credit where available. Their card and bank details stay with PayPal, and QuoteCloud marks the document paid.

Two overlapping panels with sample data. Behind, Larkfield Tutoring's term agreement LF-2027-0219 for Noah's maths tutoring: the Steady package for Term 1 and a workbook, $841.50 including tax, signed by his mother Sofia Castellano and paid in full with PayPal. In front, an illustration of the payment on PayPal's side: $841.50, completed, paid from Sofia's PayPal account.

Why let clients pay with PayPal?

Larkfield Tutoring sends each family a term agreement. Plenty of parents read it on their phone in the evening, and asking them to find a card and type it into a form they've never seen before is where some stop.

Sofia Castellano signs Noah's agreement at 8:05 pm and pays Term 1 from her PayPal account a minute later. Larkfield gets the payment and a signed agreement; it never sees her card or bank details.

  • Clients pay the way their PayPal account allows: their PayPal balance, a linked card or bank, or PayPal Credit where it's available.
  • Card and bank details stay with PayPal; QuoteCloud doesn't store card details.
  • The document is marked paid, and the payment joins its history.

Clients who reach for PayPal

  • Families

Term fees, camps and party deposits, often paid on a phone in the evening. QuoteCloud for tutoring and coaching.

  • Small businesses

Owners who run their business spending through one PayPal account and want every supplier paid the same way.

  • Clients abroad

People paying from another country, with the PayPal account they already use there. See below.

Clients in other countries

PayPal works in many countries and regions, and a client abroad pays from their own PayPal account just like a local one. PayPal lists 25 currencies it supports for payments and balances, some of them only within their own country.

When a payment's currency differs from the one your PayPal account settles in, PayPal converts it at its own rate, which includes a spread or fee. Before you quote overseas clients in their own currency, check which currencies your QuoteCloud account takes with PayPal.

  • Cards through Stripe

QuoteCloud Payments also connects to Stripe for card payments: see the Stripe integration.

  • Log every payment

A Zap on Document Paid adds a row to a Google Sheets payments log. See after the payment.

Questions about paying with PayPal

What can clients pay with through PayPal?

Whatever their PayPal account allows. Clients check out from their PayPal account using a debit card, a credit card, or PayPal Credit where it's available, and PayPal accounts can also hold a balance or a linked bank. PayPal decides which options each buyer sees.

Do I see my client's card or bank details?

No. The client pays in PayPal's checkout, so their card and bank details stay with PayPal. QuoteCloud doesn't store card details; it records that the document has been paid and adds the payment to its history.

Can clients in other countries pay with PayPal?

Yes, from their own PayPal account, wherever PayPal works. If the payment's currency differs from your PayPal account's, PayPal converts it at its own rate, including a spread or fee. Check which currencies your QuoteCloud account takes with PayPal before quoting in a client's currency.

How quickly does the money arrive?

The payment completes straight away on the client's side, usually in under a minute, and the document is marked paid. The funds then settle on PayPal's own timing, which can vary by currency and bank.
