Getting started with QuoteCloud

Connect PayPal to QuoteCloud, step by step

Connect your PayPal account once, add the PayPal button to your templates, and test it on a document of your own before a client sees it.

Check you're on Essentials or higher, where QuoteCloud Payments is included. Connect the PayPal account your payments should go to in QuoteCloud, then insert a PayPal button in a template, set the pricing details and choose a one-time payment or an instalment plan. Send a test document to yourself and sign it.

How do I connect PayPal to QuoteCloud?

Five steps, once. After that, each new document picks up the button from its template.

  1. Check your plan

QuoteCloud Payments is on Essentials, Business and Enterprise. You can try it in the free 14-day trial.

  2. Have your PayPal account ready

The PayPal account your payments should go to. What it needs depends on PayPal's policies and the payment methods you offer.

  3. Connect it in QuoteCloud

Link that PayPal account in QuoteCloud. No Zapier is needed for the payment.

  4. Add the button to a template

Insert a PayPal button, set the pricing details and choose a one-time payment or an instalment plan.

  5. Test it on yourself

Send a document from the template to your own @example.com address, sign it and check the payment step.

Step 3: connect the account your payments go to

Link the PayPal account that should receive the money. It's a direct connection: once it's linked, a PayPal button in any document can take payments.

The User Guide documents the Stripe connection, which lives per team under Settings → Users & Roles → Teams → Payment Settings, so each brand can use its own account. It doesn't have a PayPal article yet: if you can't find where to link PayPal, ask the QuoteCloud team.

Then the $ (Payments) icon sets what the client reads and pays: the description, your instructions and the amount, as a percentage of the total or a fixed figure.

Connect PayPal in your trial

QuoteCloud Payments is on the Essentials plan and up. Start a free 14-day trial, connect your PayPal account and send yourself a test document.

Test it before a client sees it

Send a document from the template to yourself and check these.

  • The payment step appears

After you sign, the PayPal option shows on the same page. If it doesn't, check the PayPal account is connected and the button is in the document.

  • The amounts are right

Tick and untick an option: the total, the deposit and the pay-in-full amount should all follow the price table.

  • The words are yours

Read the payment description and instructions as a client would, including when any balance is due.

  • The plan reads clearly

If you offer an instalment plan, check the number of payments and each amount before sending it.

  • Paid shows up

Once a real payment has been made, the document shows under the Paid filter on the dashboard.

  • Zaps, if you use them

Payment Zaps need a paid or part-paid document as test data. See after the payment.

Your PayPal account

Payments go to the PayPal account you link. What that account needs, and which ways to pay PayPal offers your clients, depends on PayPal's policies and the payment methods you want to offer: check PayPal's own documentation for your country.

PayPal charges its own fees on each payment, and they vary by country and currency. See what it costs.

Set-up questions

Do I need Zapier to connect PayPal to QuoteCloud?

No. PayPal connects to QuoteCloud directly: you link your PayPal account in QuoteCloud and add the PayPal button to your documents. Zapier is optional, for passing payments on to other apps after they're made.

Can I try the PayPal connection in the free trial?

Yes. QuoteCloud Payments can be tried during the free 14-day trial, with no credit card required, by connecting your own PayPal account. After the trial it needs the Essentials plan or higher.

What kind of PayPal account do I need?

A PayPal account for your payments to go to. What it needs depends on PayPal's policies and the payment methods you want to offer, so check PayPal's documentation for your country, or ask us in a demo.

Can different teams or brands use different PayPal accounts?

We haven't confirmed this for PayPal. The User Guide documents payment settings per team for Stripe, so each team can connect its own Stripe account. Book a demo if your brands need separate PayPal accounts.
