Getting started with QuoteCloud

Connect Slack to QuoteCloud, step by step

Six steps in Zapier, about the time it takes to write a good message. Here's the win-celebration Zap; every recipe on this site is built the same way.

Check you're on QuoteCloud's Essentials plan or higher. In Zapier, create a Zap, choose QuoteCloud and a trigger such as Document Signing Complete, and connect your QuoteCloud account. Then choose Slack and an action such as Send Channel Message, connect your workspace, write the message with fields from the trigger, test it in a private channel and turn it on.

How do I connect Slack to QuoteCloud?

Through Zapier, one Zap per moment. These are the steps for the win post.

  1. Check the plan

QuoteCloud's Zapier app is on Essentials and up. Approval nudges also need the approval workflow, on Business.

  2. Create a Zap

In Zapier, create a Zap and choose QuoteCloud as the trigger app.

  3. Pick the trigger

Choose Document Signing Complete, connect your QuoteCloud account (sign in, or paste your API key if Zapier asks) and test it.

  4. Choose the Slack action

Choose Slack and Send Channel Message, and connect your Slack workspace.

  5. Write the message

Choose the channel and write the text, dropping in the title, signers, total and owner from the trigger.

  6. Test, then turn it on

Send the test to a private test channel, check it reads well, point it at #deals and switch it on.

Step 3: the trigger, and its test data

Zapier fetches a recent signed document as test data. Read it before you write the message: it's the list of what you can use, such as the document's title, number, signers and total, and whether the owner's email is there.

If you're testing a new Zap, sign a test quote sent to an @example.com address first, so the test data is a document you don't mind seeing in Slack.

  • Document Signing Complete for wins; Recipient First Viewed Document for opens.
  • One Zap per trigger: a Zap has exactly one.

Lead with what happened and to whom: Signed by everyone: Mossbank Health Partners renewed for 24 months. Then two to four facts the channel needs, and the owner's name. Long messages get skimmed; a wall of fields gets muted.

  • Send Channel Message for a public channel; Send Private Channel Message for a private one.
  • Send Direct Message for one person, found with Find User by Email.

Can I connect Slack through Make instead?

Yes, if your team builds its own. Make is a bring-your-own route: you add a connection to QuoteCloud with Make's built-in OAuth, then call QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints from a scenario, beside Make's own Slack modules.

There's no ready-made QuoteCloud app on Make, so you design each step yourself. API access is on QuoteCloud's Essentials plan and up. If you'd like a hand, talk to our team.

Before you start

  • Essentials for Zapier

QuoteCloud's Zapier app and API are on Essentials and up. Approval nudges need Business for the approval workflow.

  • A Zapier account

Each step uses tasks on your Zapier plan. Filters, Paths and digests are Zapier's own tools.

  • Your channels

Create #deals, a private #finance and a test channel first. Check with whoever manages Slack that Zapier may connect.

  • Matching emails

For direct messages, each rep's Slack email should be the email they use in QuoteCloud.

Set-up questions

Do I need a developer to connect Slack to QuoteCloud?

No. With Zapier you choose a QuoteCloud trigger and a Slack action from lists and write the message, with no code. Make is the route for teams that build their own, calling QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints from a scenario.

How do I connect my QuoteCloud account in Zapier?

When you choose a QuoteCloud trigger, Zapier asks you to sign in to QuoteCloud, or to paste your API key if it asks for one. QuoteCloud's Zapier app is on the Essentials plan and up.

Can I post to a private Slack channel?

Yes. Slack's Send Private Channel Message posts to a private channel you choose. Use it for anything with amounts, such as payments, so only the people in that channel see them. Test it once, as private channels depend on your workspace's settings.

Does each update need its own Zap?

Yes. A Zap has one trigger, so a win post, an open alert and a payment post are three Zaps. One Zap can still do several things after its trigger, such as posting to #deals and messaging the owner.
