Getting started with QuoteCloud

What QuoteCloud with Slack can and can't do

Plain answers before you build: what the Zaps post, where they stop, how Zapier and Make compare, and what we haven't confirmed yet.

Through QuoteCloud's Zapier app, QuoteCloud events such as signatures, first views, comments, approval requests, payments and expiry can post to Slack channels or direct messages, in your own words. Nothing posts unless you build a Zap or a Make scenario. Approving, replying to clients and sending stay in QuoteCloud.

Where the Zaps stop

  • Nothing is built in

There's no built-in Slack connection in QuoteCloud. Each update you want in Slack is a Zap or a Make scenario you build and turn on.

  • Decisions stay in QuoteCloud

Approving or rejecting, replying to a client's comment and sending the document happen in QuoteCloud. A Slack message is a heads-up with a link back.

  • No documents in Slack

A message carries the fields you map, not the document. The quote, its signatures and comments stay in QuoteCloud.

  • No buyer choices

A Zap never ticks options or chooses content blocks for the client. Clients choose in the document.

  • No warning before expiry (yet)

This site posts what has expired. Use QuoteCloud's Expiring Soon filter for what's about to; a Slack list of those isn't confirmed.

  • Not a record of payments

A payment post tells people; your accounts are kept in your accounting app, through its own connection.

Zapier or Make?

Both reach the same QuoteCloud events. The difference is how much you build yourself.

  • Zapier

QuoteCloud's Zapier app has ready-made triggers, actions and searches; Slack's Zapier app has Send Channel Message, Send Direct Message and more. Every recipe on this site is a Zap. Essentials and up; posting to Slack carries no per-document fee.

    Connect it, step by step
  • Make, bring your own

Connect Make to QuoteCloud with Make's built-in OAuth, then call QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints from a scenario, beside Make's own Slack modules. No ready-made QuoteCloud app on Make; API access on Essentials and up.

What haven't we confirmed yet?

We only describe what we've confirmed. These are possible or plausible, but we haven't tested them, so the recipes on this site don't depend on them.

  • Which fields each QuoteCloud trigger carries, such as the owner's email or a link to the document. Every recipe says to check the trigger's test data.
  • Approving from Slack: Slack's Request Approval action can hold a Zap until someone clicks Approve or Decline, and QuoteCloud's Approve or Reject Document Workflow records the decision of the approver whose account the Zap uses.
  • Zaps that start in Slack, such as a reaction or a message, and act in QuoteCloud.
  • A scheduled list of quotes about to expire, read from QuoteCloud.
  • Whether documents created from a Make scenario carry the per-document fee. No Slack recipe here creates documents.

Questions about the limits

Does QuoteCloud post to Slack without Zapier or Make?

No. There is no built-in Slack connection. QuoteCloud's events reach Slack through a Zap you build with QuoteCloud's Zapier app, on Essentials and up, or a Make scenario that calls QuoteCloud's API. Nothing posts until you turn one on.

Can Slack create or change a QuoteCloud quote?

Not in the recipes on this site. Zapier can start a Zap from a Slack event, such as a new message in a channel, and run a QuoteCloud action, but we haven't built or tested one. Quotes are created and edited in QuoteCloud.

Can Slack show the quote itself?

No. A Slack message carries only the fields you map, such as the document number, the client and the total, with a link back if your trigger's data has one. The quote, its options, signatures and comments stay in QuoteCloud.
