Getting started with QuoteCloud

What QuoteCloud with Zendesk Sell can and can't do

Plain answers before you build: what the Zaps do with a deal, where they stop, how Zapier and Make differ, and what we still have to confirm.

The Zaps can draft a quote when a Zendesk Sell deal or lead appears or changes stage, and turn views, signatures, expiry and losses into tasks, notes, hot flags and stage changes. They can't copy a deal's products into the price table, attach files to a deal, tick options or keep both apps in sync: each Zap runs one way.

What can the Zendesk Sell Zaps do?

  • Draft quotes from deals and leads

Deal Enters New Stage, New Deal or New Lead can start Create Document from your template, with the deal's details in data items. Quotes on the move.

  • Write tasks and notes

First views, signatures, comments, expiry and losses can become Zendesk Sell tasks with a due date and an alert, or notes on the deal. Tasks for the rep.

  • Move the deal

Update Deal can change the stage, mark the deal hot, change its value or add tags, once Find Deal has found it. Sign on site.

  • Hand off to Zendesk Support

The signing Zap can open a Zendesk Support ticket with the signed PDF attached. Hand-off to support.

  • Match people

Find Contact and QuoteCloud's Find or Create Contact keep the quote's recipient the same person as the deal's contact.

  • Add price-table rows you map

Create Document takes row fields (label, notes, price, quantity, term, tax, discount) from values you map, such as a fixed call-out fee.

Zapier or Make: which route suits you?

There's no direct or native Zendesk Sell connection on any plan. Both routes reach the same QuoteCloud events and actions.

  • Zapier

QuoteCloud's Zapier app with ready-made triggers, actions and searches, beside Zendesk Sell's and Zendesk Support's Zapier apps. No code. Essentials and up; documents a Zap creates carry US$2.00, $1.80 or $1.60 each by volume.

    Connect it in Zapier
  • Make

Bring your own: Make's built-in OAuth connection to QuoteCloud, then QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints called from a scenario, beside Make's own Zendesk Sell modules. You design each step; no ready-made QuoteCloud app on Make.

    What each route costs

Where does it stop?

  • No sync

Each Zap runs one way when its trigger fires. Editing the deal after the quote is drafted doesn't change the quote; revise it in QuoteCloud.

  • No deal products in the price table

Zendesk Sell's Zapier app has no search that returns a deal's products, so the price table comes from your template and the rep's edits.

  • No files on the deal

Zendesk Sell's Zapier app can't attach a file to a deal. Put the signed PDF on a Zendesk Support ticket or in OneDrive or Google Drive, and a note on the deal.

  • No choices made for the client

A Zap never ticks optional items or chooses content blocks. The client ticks options; the rep edits and sends.

  • No saved PDF links

Generate or Fetch Document PDF Link gives a short-lived link: upload the file in the same Zap, never store the link on the deal.

  • No signing inside Zendesk Sell

Signing, in person or online, happens in QuoteCloud. Zendesk Sell hears about it only through a Zap.

What we haven't confirmed yet

We describe only what QuoteCloud's and Zendesk Sell's Zapier apps list and what QuoteCloud's User Guide documents. A few details depend on the data your account sends, so check them in each Zap's test data:

  • Whether QuoteCloud's triggers carry your template's data items, such as the Zendesk Sell deal ID. Until you see it, find the deal on its name.
  • Which fields Deal Enters New Stage passes, such as the contact ID, the owner and your custom deal fields.
  • Whether a quote signed in person fires the signing triggers exactly like one signed online. Test it once.
  • Whether Recipient First Viewed Document fires once per recipient or once per document.
  • For Make: which of Make's Zendesk Sell modules suit your scenario, and whether documents a scenario creates carry the per-document fee. Ask us.

Questions about the limits

Does QuoteCloud sync with Zendesk Sell?

No. Nothing is kept in sync, and there's no direct connection. Each Zap is a one-way automation that runs when its trigger fires: a deal can start a quote, and a quote event can update the deal, but these are separate Zaps. Changes made later in one app don't flow to the other by themselves.

Can the Zap put a Zendesk Sell deal's products on the quote?

No. Zendesk Sell's Zapier app has no search that returns a deal's products, so a Zap can't copy them into a price table. Use a template with your standard lines, add products from QuoteCloud's product catalogue, or map fixed rows into Create Document.

Can a Zap tick options or pick content for the client?

No. A Zap creates the document from your template and fills data items and any price-table rows you map. Optional items stay for the client to tick when they review the quote, and the rep edits the draft before sending.

Is Make or Zapier better for Zendesk Sell?

Zapier is quicker to start: QuoteCloud has a ready-made Zapier app and every recipe on this site is a Zap. Make suits teams that already run Make and want to design each step, using Make's OAuth connection and QuoteCloud's API. Both need QuoteCloud's Essentials plan or higher.
