Connect Microsoft Excel to QuoteCloud, step by step
Most failed Excel Zaps fail before the first step: the workbook is in the wrong place or isn't a table. Check those two things, then connect both apps and build the register Zap.

Store the workbook in OneDrive for Business, the default SharePoint site or a Group Drive, and format the data as an Excel table with a header row. In Zapier, connect your QuoteCloud account (Essentials and up) and your Microsoft work account, then build a Zap such as Document Status Changed, Find Row and Update Row.

Step 2: Excel's Find Row in Corbel estimates register.xlsx, worksheet Register, lookup column Ref; it found row 6. Step 3: Excel's Update Row, writing Sent and 95,062.00 to row 6.

How do I connect Excel to QuoteCloud?
Five steps. The first two are about the workbook, not Zapier.
- 1
Check the plan
QuoteCloud's Zapier app is on Essentials and up. You also need a Zapier account and a Microsoft 365 work or school account.
- 2
Put the workbook where Zapier can reach it
OneDrive for Business, the default SharePoint site or a Group Drive. Personal OneDrive and files on your computer aren't supported.
- 3
Format a table
Select the data, insert a table with a header row, and name it, such as Estimates. Add Row to Table and New Row in Table need one.
- 4
Connect both apps in Zapier
Create a Zap, sign in to QuoteCloud when Zapier asks, then sign in to Microsoft for Excel.
- 5
Build and test one Zap
Start with the register: Document Status Changed, Find Row, Update Row. Test it on a copy of the workbook, then turn it on.
Where can the workbook live?
From the requirements shown on every step of Zapier's Microsoft Excel app (read 30 October 2026).
OneDrive for Business
The default storage. Folders in your own OneDrive for Business are listed, and files shared with you work through OneDrive.
SharePoint: the default site
Choose SharePoint as the storage and Zapier lists folders in your organisation's default SharePoint site. Other custom SharePoint sites aren't supported.
Group Drive
A Microsoft 365 group's drive, such as a pricing desk group, also works.
Not supported
Workbooks in a personal OneDrive, on your computer or in a custom SharePoint site. Move or copy the file to one of the places above.
Step 1: the trigger, and its test data
Choose QuoteCloud, then Document Status Changed. Zapier fetches a recent document as test data.
Check it has what the Excel steps need: the document's reference to find the row, the new status and the total. If a field is missing, send a test document and load fresh data.

Step 2: Find Row on the Ref column
Add Microsoft Excel's Find Row. Pick the folder, workbook and worksheet, set Lookup Column to Ref and map the document's reference from step 1 into Lookup Value.
Test it with a reference that's already in the table. If nothing is found, compare the two values character by character: a space or a different dash is enough to miss.
- Make the Ref column text, not a number or date.
- Use Find or Create Row to add rows for older documents.

Step 3: Update Row, mapped
Add Update Row with the same workbook and worksheet. Map Row to the row ID from Find Row, then map only the columns this Zap owns: Status and Total.
After the test, check that the columns you didn't map, such as notes or formulas, kept their values.

Ready to build your first Zap?
QuoteCloud's Zapier app is on the Essentials plan and up. Start a free 14-day trial and connect a copy of your register.
Can I connect Excel through Make instead?
Yes, if your team builds its own. Make is a bring-your-own route: you add a connection to QuoteCloud with Make's built-in OAuth, then call QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints from a scenario, beside Make's own Microsoft Excel modules.
There is no ready-made QuoteCloud app or list of modules on Make, so you design each step yourself. The recipes on this site are shown as Zaps; the same QuoteCloud events and actions are there when you build them in Make.
- API access is on QuoteCloud's Essentials plan and up, like the Zapier app.
- What each route can and can't do.
Before you start
One header row
Short, unique column names in row 1 of the table: Ref, Client, Status, Total. Zapier shows them as fields to map.
Test on a copy
Point the Zap at a copy of the workbook while you build it, then switch the workbook in each step when it works.
Don't rename after mapping
Renaming the workbook, sheet, table or a mapped column breaks the steps. Re-select them in Zapier if you must.
Set-up questions
Why doesn't Zapier list my Excel workbook?
Usually because of where it's stored. Zapier's Excel app only works with workbooks in OneDrive for Business, a SharePoint site or a Group Drive, and for SharePoint it lists folders in the default site only. Workbooks in a personal OneDrive, on your computer or in another SharePoint site don't appear.
Do I need an Excel table, or will a plain range work?
Use a table. Add Row to Table and the New Row in Table trigger need one, so the table's formulas and formatting extend to each new row. Find Row and Update Row work on a worksheet, but a table with a single header row keeps every Zap simpler.
Which accounts do I connect in Zapier?
Two. Your QuoteCloud account, on Essentials or higher, for QuoteCloud's triggers and actions, and your Microsoft work or school account for Excel, which Zapier connects by signing in to Microsoft. Use an account that can open and edit the workbook.
Can I connect Excel to QuoteCloud through Make?
Yes, as a bring-your-own setup. QuoteCloud has no ready-made app on Make: you connect Make to QuoteCloud with Make's built-in OAuth connection and call QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints from your scenario, beside Make's own Microsoft Excel modules. API access is on Essentials and up.
