Getting started with QuoteCloud

What QuoteCloud with Zendesk can and can't do

The jobs the Zaps do well, the places they stop, and the questions we haven't been able to confirm yet, in one page.

With QuoteCloud's Zapier app, Zendesk tickets can start quotes, and QuoteCloud events can add internal notes or public replies, set a ticket's status, group and tags, attach the signed PDF and open new tickets. It isn't a native or two-way connection: each Zap runs one way, and a Zap never ticks options or chooses content blocks.

What can the Zendesk Zaps do?

Five jobs, each one a Zap built with QuoteCloud's Zapier app on Essentials and up.

  • Quotes from tickets

New Tag Added to Ticket or New Ticket in View, then Create Document: a draft from your template with the ticket's details in data items.

    Quotes from tickets
  • Status on the ticket

Recipient First Viewed Document or Document Signing Complete, then Add Comment to Ticket or Update Ticket, internal or public.

    Status on the ticket
  • Repairs and call-outs

Generate or Fetch Document PDF Link, then Attach File to Ticket and Update Ticket to route the approved job.

    Repairs & call-outs
  • Renewals and add-ons

Document Expired or Document Lost, then Create Ticket for account management, with an internal first comment.

    Renewals & add-ons
  • Comments to tickets

Document Comment Event, then Update Ticket: the comment as an internal note, and the ticket back to Open.

    Comments to tickets
  • Alerts

Add Send Channel Message to any of them for Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Zapier or Make: which route suits you?

Both reach the same QuoteCloud events and actions. Neither is a native connection.

  • Zapier

QuoteCloud's Zapier app has ready-made triggers, actions and searches, beside Zendesk's own Zapier app; no code. On Essentials and up; documents a Zap creates carry US$2.00, $1.80 or $1.60 each by volume. Zapier bills its own plans.

  • Make, bring your own

Connect Make to QuoteCloud with Make's built-in OAuth, then call QuoteCloud's API or Zapier endpoints from a scenario beside Make's own Zendesk modules. There's no ready-made QuoteCloud app or module list on Make: someone on your team designs each step. API access is on Essentials and up.

Where does it stop?

Honest limits, so nobody is surprised after go-live.

  • One way per Zap

There's no native connection and no two-way sync. A Zap runs from its trigger to its steps; two directions means two Zaps.

  • Finding the ticket

A Zap that starts in QuoteCloud needs the ticket ID (a data item) or a Find Tickets search that matches exactly one ticket.

  • No ticking options

A Zap can fill data items and add price-table rows. It never ticks optional lines or chooses content blocks: the customer does.

  • Short-lived PDF links

The signed PDF has to be attached in the same Zap that fetches its link. A saved link stops working.

  • Public is public

A comment set to public is a reply the requester sees, and Zendesk emails it. Choose per step.

  • Agents still send

The quote recipe drafts; your agent checks the price and sends. Send Document can send straight away for fixed-price add-ons.

What we haven't confirmed yet

Some details depend on what each app's Zapier step actually passes on, which you'll see in your own Zap's test data. We'd rather tell you than guess.

  • Whether QuoteCloud's triggers include custom data items, such as the Zendesk ticket ID, and the recipient's email. If they don't, search with Find Tickets.
  • The input fields of Zendesk's Find Tickets search and whether Create Ticket can set a subject: neither is listed on Zapier's public page.
  • Whether a comment added with Create Document Comment is visible to the customer on the quote.
  • Whether documents created from a Make scenario carry the per-document fee. Ask us for your volume.

Questions about the limits

Is QuoteCloud's Zendesk integration native or two-way?

Neither. QuoteCloud connects to Zendesk through Zapier or Make, and each Zap runs one way, from its trigger to its steps. A ticket can start a quote and a quote event can update the ticket, but those are separate Zaps, and editing the ticket later doesn't change the quote.

Can a Zap choose which options appear in the quote?

No. Create Document can fill data items and add price-table rows you map, but it doesn't tick optional lines or choose content blocks. Optional extras in your template stay there for the customer to tick, and they can change quantities you allow.

Can the Zaps create Zendesk tickets, not just update them?

Yes. Zendesk's Create Ticket on Zapier can open a ticket from a QuoteCloud event, such as an expired or lost renewal, with the requester, group, assignee, priority, tags and an internal or public first comment.

What's the difference between this and Zendesk Sell?

Zendesk is the help desk: tickets, requesters and agents. Zendesk Sell is Zendesk's CRM, with deals and a pipeline. Both connect to QuoteCloud through Zapier or Make, with different recipes; this site covers the help desk.

Is there a fee for documents created through Make?

Ask us for your volume. Documents created through Zapier or the API carry a per-document fee of US$2.00, $1.80 or $1.60 by volume; Make scenarios are bring-your-own, so talk to us about the documents yours will create. Both routes need QuoteCloud's Essentials plan or higher.
