Four sample documents a fictional consulting firm, Ashcombe Partners, built from its templates, behind index tabs that take turns at the front: a statement of work for a network and margin review, a mutual NDA before a briefing, a 12-month growth advisory retainer and a change program proposal for a health group.

Which template for which moment

From the first conversation to the final sign-off, an engagement uses a handful of documents. Here is the template for each.

  1. Before the briefing

Send the Non-Disclosure Agreement so the client can share their data.

  2. The pitch

Write it in the Consulting Services Proposal, or the HR Services Proposal for people work.

  3. The plan

Set out a strategy engagement's direction and priorities with the Strategic Plan.

  4. The contract

Agree terms with the Consulting Contract, the Consulting Agreement or, for finance work, Financial Consulting.

  5. The sign-off

Accept a phase or a deliverable with the Project Customer Acceptance Form.

Statement of work

Network & margin review

Prepared for Carla Mendes, COO, and Tom Haddow, Procurement · Wexley Distribution Group · Prepared Thu 22 Oct 2026 · Valid until Fri 13 Nov 2026

A 12-week review of Wexley's distribution network and cost to serve, ending in a roadmap your team can start on. This statement of work sets out the situation as we heard it, our approach, the team, the fee and the assumptions behind it.

Situation, objectives & approach

The situation

Wexley has grown by acquisition into four distribution centres with overlapping catchments. Freight costs have risen faster than revenue for two years, and the executive team wants a clear view of cost to serve before the next lease decisions in mid-2027.

Objectives

  1. A fact base of cost to serve by customer segment and site
  2. Three network options, each with a business case your board can test
  3. A 12-month roadmap with owners, ready to start

The firm's template, not one partner's copy

Save the parts every SOW shares (your method, case studies, team bios, assumptions and terms) in the content library, and anyone in the firm can drag them into the template they start from.

Lock the wording that must not change, such as your assumptions and standard terms, so it can be used in every SOW but not edited.

What to change before your first send

A template gives you the structure. These are the parts that make it your firm's.

  • Your brand and voice

Your logo, colours and cover photo, and an introduction written the way your partners speak to clients.

  • Your method

Replace the generic approach section with your own phases and deliverables, saved once in the library.

  • Your rate card

Price the team from roles and day rates in your product catalogue, with cost and margin hidden from the client.

    Rate cards & approvals
  • Your fee options

Set up the price table with optional rows or a single-choice group for fixed fee, day rate or retainer.

    Fee options
  • Your signers and payment

Signature blocks for the sponsor and procurement, and the first payment on signing as a percentage or fixed amount.

  • Your offer period

An expiry date on each SOW, so the Expiring Soon filter shows the proposals about to lapse.

Consulting template questions

Which QuoteCloud template should I use for a consulting proposal?

Start with the Consulting Services Proposal for strategy and management work: it has an executive summary, objectives and scope, methodology, timeline, pricing options and acceptance. For HR and people work use the HR Services Proposal, and for a contract to sign after the proposal use the Consulting Contract or Consulting Agreement.

Can QuoteCloud convert our existing SOW into a template?

Yes. During the free trial, QuoteCloud converts one of your existing templates for free on the Essentials, Business and Enterprise plans. Further conversions are available as a paid add-on through professional services. The converted template includes your cover, sections, price table and signature blocks, ready for your team to use.

Is there an NDA template?

Yes. The Non-Disclosure Agreement template asks the other party to keep information that is not public confidential. Add your own terms, add both parties as signers and send it for signature before the briefing. Check the wording with your own legal adviser.

Can we save our own sections and reuse them?

Yes. The content library, on the Essentials plan and above, holds your method, case studies, team bios and terms as blocks in company and personal folders, ready to drag into any template. On the Business plan you can lock blocks so their wording can't be edited.

Can a template include a fee table and payment on signing?

Yes. A template can carry a price table with your roles, fixed fees and options, signature blocks for each signer and a payment on signing as a percentage or fixed amount through Stripe or PayPal. Price tables and payments are on the Essentials plan and above.
