Getting started with QuoteCloud

Construction templates, ready to make your own

Start from a real QuoteCloud template for builders, renovators, roofers or subcontractors, lock your licences, insurances and terms, and every estimator sends the same document.

QuoteCloud's construction templates include residential construction, home builder and general contractor proposals, home improvement and home repair contracts, a roofing proposal and a subcontractor agreement. Add your stages, price table, licences, insurances and terms once, lock the company blocks on Business, and every estimate your team sends starts the same way.

Three pages of a sample estimate template from a fictional builder, Corbel Building Co., fanned out and taking turns at the front: the cover for a rear extension and kitchen, the schedule of PC and provisional sums, and a locked company block with the builder's licence, insurances and safety documents (sample numbers).

A staged estimate for a home build or renovation

Start from the Residential Construction Proposal Template, the Residential Home Builder proposal or the General Contractor Proposal Template. Corbel's version prices five stages from its cost book, tags PC and provisional sums, and lets the owners tick the upgrades.

  • Your stages as section headings, with subtotals
  • Optional upgrades the owners choose
  • Saved as your own template

Quotes and agreements between builder and trade

A trade quoting a builder can start from the Roofing Proposal Template or a proposal of its own; the Subcontractor Agreement Template sets out terms, responsibilities and payment between contractor and subcontractor.

  • Rates by the point, the metre or the lot
  • Licence and insurance in the quote
  • Accepted and signed online by the builder

The parts no estimator should retype

Your licence number, builder's warranty, contract works and public liability insurances, workers compensation and safety documents belong in every estimate and contract, word for word. Write them once as a Company block in the content library and lock it.

A locked block can be dragged into any template or document but not edited there, so a new estimator can't send last year's policy number. Inclusions, exclusions and site rules work the same way: one approved wording, reused everywhere.

  • Company blocks shared by the whole team
  • Locked blocks are usable but not editable
  • Only admins or permitted roles unlock them
  • Price tables saved as blocks with their behaviour

What the office sets once, and what changes per job

A builder's template standard, part by part. The left column is decided once; the right is what an estimator fills in for each site.

The jobSet once by the officeChanged on each job
Cover & branding Logo, colours, fonts and the cover layout in the company template; custom branding is on Business. The owners' names, the site, the scope photo and the validity date.
Licences & insurances One locked Company block with licence and policy numbers, updated by the office when a policy renews. Nothing: it drops in as written. Commercial jobs can add the client's own insurance requirements.
Stages & price table Your stage headings and columns, saved as a price-table block; rates live in the cost book. Quantities, the lines for this job and any upgrades the owners can tick.
Allowances The wording that explains what a PC or provisional sum is, and how a difference is handled. The allowances for this job: tiles, appliances, rock excavation.
Terms & payment schedule Your contract terms and the stage percentages, as locked or approved wording. The contract sum and the deposit; QuoteCloud takes the deposit on signing, later claims are yours.
Signatures A signature block per owner or director, and whether a passcode is needed to sign. Who signs this time, online or in person on site.

Who can change what in your templates

Custom roles and teams (Essentials and up) decide who edits company content, the cost book and the templates. Example roles for a building company:

  • Director

Owns the company templates and the locked blocks, sets the approval rules and approves the big jobs (approval workflow, Business).

  • Construction manager

Keeps stages and inclusions current, approves estimates over a value or discount threshold and raises variations on site.

  • Estimator

Starts every estimate from a company template, prices it from the cost book and uses locked blocks as they are.

  • Office and accounts

Sends contracts, tracks opens and signatures, checks deposits, and adds new policy details when insurances renew.

Free for 14 days, no credit card required. On Essentials, Business or Enterprise we convert one of your existing templates for free during the trial.

No variation template in the library? Build yours from blocks

The library has no variation or progress-claim template, and you don't need one. Corbel's variation template is a few blocks: the change as contracted beside the change as varied, the price, the revised contract sum and the effect on time, plus the same locked company block and a signature.

Save it once as a company template, and a supervisor can raise V-03 on site, have the owner sign it on a tablet and email both owners a copy.

  • Built from the same blocks as your estimate
  • Each variation its own signed document
  • Or send us yours to convert during the trial

From your Word template to the team's standard

How a building company usually moves its templates across.

  1. Pick the template you send most

Usually the residential estimate and contract. Send it to us during the trial, or start from the nearest library template.

  2. Rebuild it with blocks

Cover, stages in a price table, allowances, plans, payment schedule and signature, in your own wording and branding.

  3. Lock the company parts

Save licences, insurances and terms as Company blocks in the content library and lock them (Business).

  4. Save it and set the roles

Save it as a company template, then decide which roles may edit templates, the library and the cost book.

Construction template questions

What construction templates does QuoteCloud have?

The library includes a Residential Construction Proposal Template, a Residential Home Builder proposal, a General Contractor Proposal Template, a Construction Proposal Template, a Roofing Proposal Template, a Home Improvement Contract, a Home Repair Contract Template and a Subcontractor Agreement Template. Each opens as a full document you can change and save as your own.

Is there a variation or progress claim template?

Not in the library. Build a variation template from the same blocks as your estimate, with the change, its price, the revised contract sum and the effect on time, or send yours to convert during the trial. Progress claims are invoices you raise in your accounting software; QuoteCloud takes the deposit on signing.

Will QuoteCloud convert our existing Word or PDF template?

Yes. During the free trial QuoteCloud converts one of your existing document templates for free on the Essentials, Business and Enterprise plans. Further conversions are a paid add-on, billed per template; ask the team for a price. Most builders start with the estimate and contract they send most.

Can we lock our licence, insurances and terms?

Yes, on the Business plan. Save them as a Company block in the content library and switch the lock on. Locked blocks can be added to any template or document but can't be edited there, and only admins or users with the right permissions can unlock them. The details themselves are yours to keep current.

Can different staff have different permissions?

Yes. Custom user roles and teams are available from Essentials. Roles decide who can create, change or delete content library blocks, who can use the content library at all, and who can change the product catalogue. On Business, approval rules can also hold an estimate In Review by total value or discount percentage.

Which plan do we need for construction templates?

Templates, price tables, the product catalogue and the content library start on Essentials (US$39 per user per month). Business (US$59) adds content locking, custom branding, approval workflows, version history and Gantt charts. eSignatures are included on every plan, including Free.
