Getting started with QuoteCloud

Battery quotes sized from what the house really uses

Size the battery in your sheet from exports and evening use, offer the sizes as one choice, and let the total feed your payback estimate.

With QuoteCloud a battery installer sizes the battery in a Spreadsheet block from the household's exports and evening use, connects the result to the battery line's description and unit price, offers sizes as a single choice the household makes, and brings the total back into the sheet for a payback estimate. They sign and pay a deposit.

Battery modules stacking on a garage wall under an existing 5 kW solar system, from a fictional business, Tallowwood Solar & Storage. In the installer's sheet, cell B4 holds the household's evening use and B6, =ROUNDUP(B4/(5*B5),0), works out the modules: 6.5 kWh a day gives 2 modules (10 kWh), Ruth Abernethy's 11.5 kWh gives 3 modules (15 kWh) and 16 kWh gives 4 (20 kWh). The battery line's description and unit price follow the sheet: for Ruth, Quolla battery, 3 × 5 kWh modules, $11,280, a total of $11,583.00 inc tax and an estimated payback of 9.7 years.

A battery for a system that's already on the roof

Ruth's 2016 system sends most of what it makes to the grid while she buys power back at night. Nate types last year's exports and her evening use into the Battery tab; ROUNDUP works out three modules, and the battery line's description and unit price come straight from the sheet.

The incentive she may be eligible for is a figure Nate types into its own cell, connected to its own line. Tick the pool pump circuit and watch the total land in Payback!B2.

A worked example of the installer's own sheet with fictional figures: QuoteCloud runs the formulas you build and calculates nothing on its own. Stored energy, savings and payback are estimates from last year's exports, the evening use and the rates on the bill; they aren't guarantees. In the proposal you'd offer the sizes as one battery choice in the price table.

What goes in a battery system, line by line

Each part as a price line with a drawn product image and a note, so the household knows what they're paying for.

  • Battery modules

The size your sheet works out, as the line's description and unit price.

  • Battery inverter

AC-coupled beside an existing inverter, or a hybrid for a new system.

  • Backup gateway & circuits

Which circuits run in an outage, written in the note.

  • Monitoring

Battery level and use on their phone, as its own line.

  • Incentive, if eligible

A line you enter, tagged as your figure.

  • Options to tick

An extra backup circuit or a bigger battery, ticked by the household.

  • Datasheets & warranty

The module datasheet and your warranty as PDF blocks.

With a new system, the battery is one choice

For the Penhaligons the battery sits in the solar proposal as a single choice: no battery for now, the size the sheet works out, or one module more. Both sized lines read their description and unit price from the sheet.

What's in the battery system opens beneath the choice, and whichever they pick, the total comes back into the sheet for the payback estimate.

Quote a battery retrofit in five steps

From the household's bills to a signed battery proposal with the deposit paid.

  1. Type in two figures

Last year's exports and the evening use, from the bills, into the Battery tab.

  2. The sheet sizes it

ROUNDUP works out the modules; the battery line takes its description and price.

  3. Add your incentive line

If they may be eligible, type your figure; it's connected to its own line.

  4. They choose

Sizes and options in the price table; the payback estimate follows the total.

  5. Sign and pay

They sign and pay the deposit through Stripe or PayPal.

Battery quote questions

How do I quote a battery for a household that already has solar?

Start from a battery template with a Spreadsheet block. Type last year's exports and the evening use from the bills; your formulas work out the modules, and that cell sets the battery line's description and unit price. Add the battery inverter, backup circuits and monitoring as lines, send, and they sign and pay a deposit.

Can the household compare battery sizes?

Yes. Offer the sizes as a single-choice group in the price table. Each sized line can take its description and unit price from your sheet, and the total comes back into the sheet so your payback estimate matches the size they choose.

How do I show a battery incentive?

As a line you enter, worded your way and tagged as your figure, for example 'Battery incentive discount, if eligible'. You can type the figure into a cell connected to the line's unit price. QuoteCloud doesn't calculate or claim incentives and doesn't check eligibility.

Does QuoteCloud promise how long the battery will last in an outage?

No. QuoteCloud sends your proposal; backup circuits, run times and savings are your own wording and estimates. Label anything you calculate in the sheet as an estimate, and describe the backup circuits in the line notes.

Can the household pay a deposit when they sign?

Yes, from the Essentials plan. Set a deposit as a percentage or a fixed amount, paid through Stripe or PayPal as they sign. The balance is your own invoice: QuoteCloud doesn't offer finance, instalments or payment reminders.
