From website enquiry to solar proposal
Your website calculator or enquiry form creates a proposal from your template, ready for your consultant to check and send.

With QuoteCloud a solar retailer's website calculator or enquiry form can create a proposal from a template through the API, Zapier or Make (Essentials and up), filling data items such as name and address. Through Zapier it can also write the answers into the sizing sheet's input cells, so the connected price lines follow. Automations don't tick options or choose blocks.
Three pages of a solar proposal created from Tallowwood Solar & Storage's residential template (a fictional business), fanned out and taking turns at the front. The cover is addressed to Jess and Arlo Penhaligon, details filled in from their website enquiry. The sizing sheet's Usage tab holds the four quarterly bills and the evening share, written into its input cells by Zapier from the enquiry form. The price table's panels, inverter, racking and installation lines take their description and unit price from the sheet; the battery choice is left at the template's default, no battery, for the household to choose.

Solar & battery for 18 Larkspur Lane

We sized this system from your last four power bills and what you told us about your evenings. The sizing sheet below shows every figure and every assumption; the price table follows it. Choose a battery size, tick the EV charger if you'd like it, and both sign to book your install.

Where each website field lands in the proposal
A field map for Tallowwood's enquiry form. Some fields fill data items, some go into the sizing sheet's input cells through Zapier, and one stays with the household on purpose.
From the enquiry to a priced draft, before anyone opens it
When the Penhaligons press Send on the website, a zap creates the proposal from the residential template and fills the data items: names, email, address. It then writes their answers into the sizing sheet's input cells: four quarterly bills, the evening share, the roof type. The sheet recalculates, and the connected price lines take their new descriptions and unit prices, so the draft is already sized and priced from Tallowwood's own formulas.
Nate reviews the draft, checks the site details at the visit and sends it. The zap doesn't tick the battery option or choose which blocks go in: the household chooses. Writing sheet cells is a Zapier step; the API and Make create the document and fill data items and price rows. Field names here are illustrative.
- Creates: the proposal from your template
- Fills: data items such as name and address
- Writes: the answers into the sheet's input cells (Zapier)
- Leaves to people: options, blocks and the final check

Three ways in: the API, Zapier or Make
Pick the route that matches your website and your CRM. All three are on Essentials and up.
The QuoteCloud API
For a website calculator your developer controls: create a proposal from a template with data items and price rows. A creation fee applies per document: US$2.00 each up to 1,000 a month, US$1.80 to 5,000, US$1.60 above. Document automation API.
Zapier
The route that can also write the enquiry's answers into the sizing sheet's input cells, so the draft arrives priced. The same per-document fees apply to documents created through Zapier; triggers such as Signed Document carry the result back.
Make
For teams already running Make scenarios: a scenario can create the proposal from your template. No per-document fee is stated for Make; check the modules available in your Make account.

Speed to a first proposal
The enquiry becomes a proposal, not an email
A website calculator's numbers used to land in an inbox and wait. Now they arrive as a draft proposal from the right template, so the consultant's first job is to check it and book the visit.
What happens at the visitConnect your website to QuoteCloud in five steps
Set up once; each enquiry after that arrives as a draft proposal.
- 1
Build the template
Your residential template with the sizing sheet, price lines, battery choice and terms.
- 2
Mark the inputs
Data items for name and address, and the sheet's input cells for bills, evening share and roof type.
- 3
Build the zap
Map each website field to a data item or a sheet input cell in Zapier's Create Document step.
- 4
Review the draft
The sheet has sized it and the lines are priced; a consultant checks it and books the visit.
- 5
Send and follow
Send it, then let triggers such as Signed Document update your CRM.
Lead automation questions
Can my website solar calculator create a proposal in QuoteCloud?
Yes. On Essentials and up, the QuoteCloud API, Zapier or Make can create a proposal from your template when someone submits your website calculator or enquiry form, filling data items such as name and address. Through Zapier, the answers can also go into the sizing sheet's input cells so the connected price lines are priced before anyone opens it.
Can the automation fill in the sizing sheet or choose the battery?
Zapier can write the enquiry's answers, such as bills and evening share, into the sheet's input cells, and the sheet recalculates the connected price lines. No automation ticks optional items such as a battery or chooses which content blocks go in: the household makes the choices, and a consultant reviews the draft before it's sent.
What does it cost to create proposals through the API or Zapier?
API and Zapier need Essentials or above, plus a fee per document created that way: US$2.00 each for 1 to 1,000 documents a month, US$1.80 each from 1,001 to 5,000, and US$1.60 each above 5,000. No per-document fee is stated for Make.
Will the proposal go to the homeowner automatically?
It can: Send Document is a Zapier action. Most solar retailers have a consultant check the draft and book a site visit first, because the website can't see the roof or the switchboard. The choice is yours when you set up the zap.
Can my CRM hear when the homeowner signs?
Yes, through Zapier. Triggers include Recipient First Viewed, Signed Document, Document Payment Event and Status Changed, so a signature or deposit can update a deal in HubSpot or Zoho CRM. Pipedrive connects directly, and native CRM integrations are on the Business plan.
Does QuoteCloud connect to solar design tools?
QuoteCloud has no dedicated connection to solar design or sizing tools. Where your tool has a Zapier or Make connector, or can call an API, it can create a QuoteCloud proposal from your template with data items and price rows, the same way a website form does.
