Getting started with QuoteCloud

Site assessments recorded inside the proposal

Roof, switchboard, meter and existing system in a Forms block, roof photos marked up, and the panels that fit typed into the sizing sheet.

With QuoteCloud a solar installer records the site visit inside the proposal: a Forms block captures roof type, storeys, switchboard, meter, existing system and battery location (Business plan), roof photos are marked up in the image editor, and the panels that fit each face are typed into the sizing sheet, which caps the system at the roof.

A high-angle technical drawing of a roof for a fictional business, Tallowwood Solar & Storage: a hip roof with north, west and east faces, a north arrow, dimensions, a vent and a neighbour's tree shading the east face from 4 pm. Beside it, a tablet shows the proposal's site form being filled in: terracotta tile at 22 degrees, single storey, room for a solar main switch, single-phase smart meter, no existing system, the battery on the garage wall, and an EV planned next year. Then nine panels appear on the north face and six on the west, and the sizing sheet's Roof tab shows 15 panels fit.

What Sienna found, where the installer will read it

Sienna fills in the site form on her tablet during the visit: roof, storeys, switchboard, meter, existing system and where the battery goes. The answers live in a Forms block inside the proposal, not in a notebook in her car.

She marks up the roof photo in the image editor, the vent to keep clear and where the array starts, and adds her notes. When the Penhaligons sign, Callum's crew gets all of it in the signed proposal.

What to record at a solar site visit

The questions that change the price or the install day, as fields and photos in your template.

  • Roof and pitch

Material, pitch and which faces are clear, with a marked-up photo of each.

  • Storeys and access

Single or double storey, and anything that needs scaffold or a crane.

  • Switchboard

Room for a solar main switch, and anything that needs replacing first.

  • Meter and supply

Single or multi-phase, and the meter type, as a choice field.

  • Battery location

A wall out of direct sun, with a battery photo.

  • Plans for an EV

If a charger is coming, leave room on the circuit and offer it as a tick.

The panels that fit, typed into the sheet

Sienna types how many panels fit each face into the sizing sheet's Roof tab. The sheet compares that with the size the bills call for and quotes the smaller, so a proposal never promises more panels than the roof holds.

If your job system needs the site details too, Zapier's Form Submitted on Document trigger can pass the form's answers on, for example to an install job (an illustrative Zap).

  • Roof!C5 =SUM(C2:C4): panels that fit
  • Roof!C7 =MIN(C5,C6): panels quoted
  • Form answers onward through Zapier

Site assessment questions

Can I do a solar site assessment inside the proposal?

Yes. Add a Forms block to your proposal template with the fields you need, such as roof, storeys, switchboard, meter, existing system and battery location. The assessor fills it in on site and the answers stay with the proposal the household signs. The Forms block is on the Business plan.

Can I mark up roof photos?

Yes. Add photos as image or gallery blocks and mark them up in QuoteCloud's image editor with arrows, shapes and labels, from the Starter plan. Use it to show where the array goes, what to keep clear and where the battery sits.

Does QuoteCloud analyse shading or design the layout?

No. QuoteCloud records what your assessor finds and runs the formulas in your sheet. It doesn't analyse shading, design the array or inspect for compliance; the panel count per face is your assessor's figure.

Can the site details go to my job management system?

Through Zapier. The Form Submitted on Document trigger can start a Zap that passes the form's answers to another app, such as a job in your field service system where it has a Zapier connector. Set it up and test it with your own systems.

Do the form answers fill in the sizing sheet automatically?

We don't claim that. In our sample the assessor types the panels that fit each face into the sheet's Roof tab, and the sheet caps the system at the roof. Ask us about your own set-up during the trial.
