Getting started with QuoteCloud

Insurance quote comparisons with your recommendation marked

Each insurer's option side by side in one document. The client chooses, ticks add-ons and an excess, and signs.

Brokers use QuoteCloud to send a recommendation with several insurers' options side by side: the same covers and limits, each insurer's premium as quoted, the broker's pick marked, optional covers and excess options the client ticks, and the broker fee as its own line. The client chooses and signs; the signed document records the choice.

A sample comparison from a fictional brokerage for Lantern Lane Café: three fictional insurers' cards hang from one beam, each by its annual premium as quoted. With machinery breakdown ticked, Alder & Finch is $3,990, Corvane General $3,745 and Marrowbank $4,125. Corvane General, the broker's recommendation, is chosen and both co-owners have signed.

How a comparison reads, part by part

Lantern Lane Café's renewal from the brokerage's comparison template. The figures are each insurer's, as quoted; the layout is built once and reused for every client.

  1. Your recommendation, in your words

A cover and a short letter from the account manager saying which insurer you recommend and why. The café and the owners' names are data items, filled in for every client.

Business insurance for Lantern Lane Café

Prepared for Lena & Josh Moretti, Lantern Lane Café · Prepared Tue 20 Oct 2026 · Quotes valid until Tue 3 Nov 2026 · current policy ends 4:00 pm Sat 14 Nov 2026

Lena and Josh, here are three insurers' quotes for the café's renewal, side by side. We recommend Corvane General for its lower property premium and the same $20 million liability limit. Choose an insurer, add any covers you'd like, and sign below.

  2. Client chooses

    Insurers as one choice

Each insurer is an option in a single-choice group, so the client can pick only one. Your recommendation is marked and chosen by default; the client can still choose another.

  3. Built once

Same covers, same limits, every column

One row per cover with its limit, one column per insurer. Optional covers are rows the client ticks, and the excess is a single choice that moves each premium by that insurer's own amount.

  5. The question answered before signing

Josh asked whether the cool room is covered overnight. Sophie replied in the same comment thread, so the answer sits in the document they signed.

    Notes from Sophie

    • Liability stays at $20 million with every insurer, the same as this year.
    • Corvane General's property premium is the lowest of the three. Its property excess is $500.
    • Machinery breakdown covers the espresso machine and the cool room, with spoilage of stock up to $5,000.
    • Once you sign, we'll ask Corvane General to issue the policy and send you the schedule.

Josh MorettiIs the cool room covered if it breaks down overnight?

Sophie, TallowmereOnly with machinery breakdown, which includes spoiled stock up to $5,000. It's ticked in your options; untick it if you'd rather not.

Change the choice and watch the totals follow

Pick another insurer, untick machinery breakdown or take the higher excess. Each column's premium, the chosen premium, your fee and the total update as the client changes their mind, and the signed copy records the final choice.

Nothing here is rated by QuoteCloud. You type each premium from the insurer's quote, or your broking system sends them through the QuoteCloud API, Zapier or Make when it creates the document.

  • The recommendation is a default, not a lock: the client decides
  • Each insurer's add-on and excess prices sit in its own column
  • Your fee stays the same whichever insurer is chosen

What changes when the comparison is the document

The jobs an account manager does for every comparison, today and once your comparison template is set up in QuoteCloud.

The jobSpreadsheet and emailOne QuoteCloud recommendation
Laying out the options A spreadsheet rebuilt for each client, attached to a cover email. The comparison template already has the insurer columns, cover rows and fee line. You type the premiums.
Explaining your pick A paragraph in the email the client may not read. Your recommendation is marked in the document, with your notes beside the figures.
Getting the decision "Go with the middle one" in a reply, sometimes days later. The client chooses the insurer, add-ons and excess in the document and signs.
Answering questions Email threads separate from the figures. Comments and replies inside the recommendation.
Knowing where it's up to Following up to find out if it was opened. Opens, the signature and any payment show against each document.

Lena and Josh kept your pick, Corvane General, and kept machinery breakdown ticked. That figure is in the document both of them signed, beside the two premiums they didn't choose.

Build your comparison template once

How a brokerage sets up the comparison every account manager then reuses.

  1. Add the insurers

Add a price table and set the insurers as a single-choice group, with a default for your recommendation.

  2. Add the covers

One row per cover with its limit in the line note, and a premium column for each insurer.

  3. Add the options

Optional covers as optional rows, and the excess choices as a second single-choice group.

  4. Add your fee

Your broker fee on its own line with tax, and a payment on signing if you take one.

  5. Save and reuse

Save it as a template. For each client, type the premiums or let your system send them in.

Quote comparison questions, answered

How do I compare insurance quotes in one document?

Build a comparison template once: a price table with the insurers as a single-choice group, one row per cover with its limit, optional covers as optional rows and the excess as a second choice. For each client, type each insurer's premiums from their quotes, mark your recommendation and send. The client chooses, ticks and signs in the same document.

Does QuoteCloud fetch or rate premiums from insurers?

No. QuoteCloud has no insurer, rating or quoting-platform integrations. You type the premiums from each insurer's quote, or your broking system sends them through the QuoteCloud API, Zapier or Make when it creates the document. QuoteCloud adds up the figures it is given and nothing more.

Can the client choose a different insurer from our recommendation?

Yes. Your recommendation is marked and chosen by default, but the insurers are a single-choice group the client can change. The premium, your fee and the total follow their choice, and the signed document records exactly what they chose. If they change their mind before signing, they can switch back at any time.

Are taxes, levies and duties calculated?

No. Premiums are shown as quoted by each insurer, including the tax, levies and duty you type in from the quote. QuoteCloud doesn't calculate statutory charges. Your broker fee and the tax on it sit on their own lines. If an insurer's quote changes, revise the document and type in the new figures.

Is the comparison advice from QuoteCloud?

No. The comparison, the recommendation and any notes are your brokerage's own content. QuoteCloud is the document, signing and payment software you send them with, and it gives no advice. Your licence's disclosure obligations, the wording you use and what you recommend stay with your brokerage, and you can lock that wording in your template on the Business plan.

Which plan do I need for comparisons?

Price tables with optional items and single-choice groups, templates and payments are on Essentials and up. eSignatures are on every plan. Locked disclosure wording and the Forms block for acknowledgements are on Business. Both Essentials and Business have a 14-day free trial with no card.
