Getting started with QuoteCloud

Quote summaries and risk proposals, sent and accepted

Underwriting agencies send brokers clear terms and conditions to accept; risk consultants price a review and get it signed.

Underwriting agencies use QuoteCloud to send brokers quote summaries with the terms offered and the conditions, accepted in the same document, and risk consultants use it to send risk review proposals with optional site surveys, an eSignature and a payment on signing. QuoteCloud doesn't bind, rate or issue policies.

A line from a fictional underwriting agency, Tern Point Underwriting, to a fictional broker, Tallowmere Insurance Brokers, to their client, Lantern Lane Café. A quote summary travels along it: sent by the agency, accepted by the broker, then the broker's recommendation is signed by the café. Below, the summary: insured Lantern Lane Café, liability $20 million with a $500 excess, property $180,000, a premium of $2,980.00 including tax and charges, subject to three conditions.

Two documents that aren't a broker's recommendation

An underwriting agency's quote summary for brokers, and a risk consultant's review proposal for a client. Both fictional businesses, both sent and signed from QuoteCloud.

A team meeting around a long wooden table with laptops

A risk review scoped, signed and part-paid

Kingfold Risk Consulting's proposal for a four-venue hospitality group: the review and the written report, an on-site survey of each venue ticked, and 30% paid on signing before anyone travels.

  • Fixed fees with tax
  • Optional site surveys and reviews
  • 30% payment on signing via Stripe

Scope agreed and paid before the site visit

Mei, the group's operations chief, can leave the venue surveys ticked or remove them and add the business interruption review. The tax, total and the 30% payable on signing follow her choices.

When she signs, the payment goes to the consultancy's own Stripe account, and the signed scope is what the review is delivered against.

  • Optional scope items the client ticks
  • Payment on signing as a percentage
  • Signed scope with certificate of authenticity

Summaries created by the agency's own system

An agency sends dozens of near-identical summaries a day. Its own system can create each one from a summary template through the QuoteCloud API, Zapier or Make: it fills the data items, adds the price-table rows and sends it to the broker.

When the broker signs, a Recipient Signed Document trigger can tell the agency's system. The request beside this is illustrative, not the API reference.

  • Create from a template, fill data items, add rows
  • Send to the broker from the same flow
  • Signed and payment events back through Zapier

From the agency's terms to the client's signature

Where QuoteCloud sits in a chain it doesn't run: each party sends and signs its own document.

  1. Agency creates

The agency's system or underwriter creates the summary from its template.

  2. Broker reviews

The broker reads the terms and conditions and asks questions in the comments.

  3. Broker accepts

The broker signs the summary; the agency sees the signature.

  4. Recommendation

The broker puts the terms in front of the client in their own recommendation.

  5. Policy issued

Binding and policy issue happen outside QuoteCloud, as they do today.

Agency and consultant questions, answered

Can an underwriting agency send quote summaries to brokers with QuoteCloud?

Yes. Make a quote summary template with the terms offered, the conditions and a signature block, then create one per risk and send it to the broker. The broker reads it on any device, asks questions in the comments and accepts by signing. eSignatures are on every plan.

Does QuoteCloud bind cover or issue policies?

No. QuoteCloud sends the summary and records the broker's acceptance. Binding, policy issue and any reporting to insurers stay in the agency's own systems. QuoteCloud doesn't rate risks either. The summary is the agency's own wording and terms, and the broker's acceptance is recorded with a certificate of authenticity and audit trail.

Can our system create summaries automatically?

Yes, from the Essentials plan. The QuoteCloud API, Zapier or Make can create a document from your template, fill its data items and add price-table rows, then send it. A per-document fee applies to API and Zapier documents. They can't choose content blocks or tick options.

Can a risk consultant take a payment when the proposal is signed?

Yes. Set a payment on signing as a percentage, a fixed amount or the full amount, and the client pays by card or PayPal into the consultancy's own Stripe or PayPal account. Payments are on Essentials and up. The consultant sets the percentage per template or document.

Can the client choose which parts of a risk review they want?

Yes. Put optional items such as site surveys or a business interruption review in the price table. The client ticks or unticks them, and the tax, total and payment on signing follow. The signed copy records the scope the review is delivered against.

Can we send under our agency's own brand?

Yes. Every template carries your agency's own letterhead, colours, wording and contact details, and each summary goes from your QuoteCloud account to the broker by email. The broker opens it from a link, with no QuoteCloud account needed, and accepts by signing the summary itself.
